AOC Under Fire For Bizarre Comments About Kamala’s Husband

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), in the midst of a campaign blitz with progressive voters on behalf of Vice President Kamala Harris, made several bizarre comments about Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff that left observers questioning whether she’s read some of the headlines lately.

Emhoff, who in recent weeks has come under fire for engaging in adulterous affairs and allegedly slapping an ex-girlfriend, is brimming with “masculinity,” the “Squad” congresswoman told a crowded room of students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas on Wednesday. “He’s not afraid to embody and pass on these values of security and this idea that you can, you can let your girl shine,” she said, the Daily Mail reported. “And he embodies that really well. We should all be really, really proud of him.”

Impressionable young minds seated at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art were warped further as AOC explained how Emhoff “has been so important this presidential cycle.” Alluding to “poor examples” of “masculinity and men” who throw around “a lot of misogyny,” the Bronx Democrat said Harris’s husband is a tolerant, loving man unafraid to share his softer side with the public. “A lot of ideas of what being a man means putting a woman down or putting queer people down,” she continued. “And this idea that, like, in order to elevate one’s value, we need to diminish the people around you.” Traditional masculinity, she explained, is a manifestation of “weakness” and “insecurity.”

“But Doug really is the contrast – the second gentleman – is a real contrast to that,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “He’s able to stand beside the vice president’s side and lift her up instead of put her down,” she said. “And he knows that by lifting up women, he’s also lifting up his fellow men around him. He’s not afraid to be a dad of a powerful daughter and a great son.” Students had the opportunity to hear from the man of the moment directly as Emhoff and his son Cole Emhoff participated in the swing state rally. After some vulgar remarks by other actors invited to speak, Emhoff struck a more optimistic tone. “She’s the president starting in six days,” the former high-powered attorney said about his wife.

AOC’s remarks come less than a week after a former lover to Emhoff came forward alleging he slapped her in the late-night hours following a celebrity gala, hitting her so hard at the valet stand that she “spun around.” The woman, a New York attorney who remains unidentified, had her story confirmed by two witnesses who said she called them to report the vicious attack. And just weeks prior, other bombshell reporting confirmed that Emhoff had an affair with his children’s nanny.

A spokesman for the Harris campaign confirmed the affair but pointed to supportive comments from Emhoff’s ex-wife. The campaign denied allegations that Emhoff struck the woman during a drunk argument.
